The day you left
I held a parrot in my hand
And I asked it
"How much do you think I hurt?"
It answered
"You hurt so much
You hurt everywhere."
First it all began
When I looked into the diary we wrote
You remember you wrote on 14th February
"I love you so much
I wish I can give you my life."
You remember the bells that towed
When we sat on the bench at the church
Holding our hands so close
That I could feel the blood circulating through your veins.
You remember when we used to walk in the dark
Hiding our love because they said
We were too young to know what love is
But we muttered under our breathe
"They just don't know how we feel inside
They don't know how it feels
For the moon to fall in the arms of the star."
I remember those days when you used to tell me my arms were like heaven
When you used to tell me my cologne smells like the smoke that the burnt offering of our love produced
Now I can bet you would say that it smells like the korle lagoon
I was told by you that I am the only one
The only man
I felt like God
The alpha and omega of your love
Now look at me, so wretched
I regret ever standing in the shadow of your love
But for love's sake, I want you back.
